What is zoning?
Zoning divides your home or office into separate comfort areas and makes your comfort equipment heat or cool only the areas that need conditioning. For example, a great room in a home or a conference room in in an office with large windows may get too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. A zoning system will send more conditioned air to these areas to make up for the heat gained or lost through the windows.
How does zoning work?
in almost all zoning systems, zoning is controlled by a thermostat in each zone. A system can have as few as 2 thermostats to as many as 24 per system. Each thermostat controls one or more dampers that open and close delivering heating and cooling only where it is needed. Each zone signals the heating and cooling unit independently. You will never have to heat or cool the whole building just to make one room comfortable.
Why should you zone your home or office?
To keep all areas of your home or office comfortable, no matter what the weather is outside or the needs are inside! You no longer have to have hot or cold rooms, or pay to heat or cool areas that you rarely use. Zoning has come a long ways in recent years. It is now efficient, easy to install and flexible enough for any home or office. What ever your needs, zoning can keep each area of your home or office at the perfect temperature for everyone.
Zoning can save you money. You no longer pay to heat or cool all of the building when only part of it is occupied.
When to install zoning?
A zoning system can be added to an HVAC system at any time. Buildings that had been nearly impossible to keep comfortable are a thing of the past. It is easiest to install a zoning system when a building is being built, however new advances in zoning technology have made it so that zoning can be add to any system with very little or even no destruction of the structure.
